Bodega Santa Cruz de Alpera has achieved the best result in its history at the 2023 edition of the Brussels World Wine Competition held in Croatia, winning two ‘Gold’ medals and one ‘Grand Gold’ medal.

This has been our winery’s best ‘harvest’ as far as this highly prestigious worldwide competition is concerned, in which Cueva del Chamán Rosé Syrah has achieved one of the most important awards in the history of Bodega Santa Cruz de Alpera, placing among the 14 best rosé wines from all over the world with this ‘Grand Gold’ medal. In fact, the competition gave 46 medals to rosé wines from all over the world, and only three of them were awarded a ‘Great Gold’, among which is our Cueva del Chamán Rosado.

Cueva del Chamán Verdejo Ecológico 2022 and Gold Rupestre 2019 have also obtained an excellent gold medal, in the categories of ‘white still wines’ and ‘red still wines’, respectively. These are the best recognitions achieved so far by our winery at the Concours Mondial de Bruxelles, surpassing the four medals obtained in 2022: two gold medals and two silver medals.

In total, together with these three medals, our winery accumulates a total of 14 medals in this competition, where it won its first medals in 2015 with a silver medal for Rupestre de Alpera and another for Santa Cruz de Alpera Blanco Verdejo. In addition, our range of Rupestre wines, which last year won three medals, is consolidated this year with a new Gold medal, this time for Gold Rupestre, which last year had received a silver medal.

Jorge Morales, commercial director of Bodega Santa Cruz de Alpera, has defined these awards as ‘history’ for the winery, ‘being the biggest milestone in many years and leaving our wines as the best in the world, especially thanks to the award for Cueva del Chamán Rosado Syrah’. These awards, Morales explains, continue to consolidate ‘our presence both nationally and internationally, especially in recent months in which our wines are leading many prestigious competitions, both in Spain and around the world’.

In this way, the “palmarés” of Bodega Santa Cruz de Alpera in the contest since 2015 is as follows: a great gold medal, six gold medals and seven silver medals. After this successful edition that took place during May 12, 13 and 14 in Croatia, we hope that our wines will also be present again in the 31st edition to be held in Mexico next year, being the 2024 edition the first time that the Concours Mondial de Bruxelles will take place in the American continent.
