Bodega Santa Cruz de Alpera is once again the Spanish winery that gets the biggest “booty” of awards in the España Selección. In this fifth edition of the contest organized by Wine Connection, our wines have won three “Gran Oro” medals and one “Oro” medal.

Cueva del Chamán Garnacha Tintorera MC and Rupestre Gold are once again winners of the Spain Selection

In the first place, the three Grand Gold medals received by our wines stand out. The highest score went to Cueva del Chamán Garnacha Tintorera Maceración Carbónica ECO, which achieved a score of 96.7 points from the jury. This wine repeats as the best rated wine of the competition for another consecutive edition, after achieving this same recognition in the Young Red category in 2022.

Gold Rupestre, our winery’s flagship wine, once again achieved important recognition in this edition of the España Selección awards. This time, our 100% Garnacha Tintorera achieved a Grand Gold medal (95.7 points) in the category of previous vintages of red wines. Last year Gold Rupestre also achieved a Great Gold medal and 96 points in the same category of “previous vintages” red wines.

In this edition of the España Selección awards, one of our white wines also won one of the highest awards given by the jury. Cueva del Chamán Blanco Verdejo was awarded a Grand Gold medal and a score of 95 points in the young white category.

These awards for the wines of Bodega Santa Cruz de Alpera are added to those already obtained in last year’s edition, in which our winery won a total of five medals: two grand gold, one gold medal and two silver medals. Carlos Hernández, sales representative of Bodega Santa Cruz de Alpera, was in charge of collecting the awards and presenting them at the stand that our winery had set up at FENAVIN, where we once again presented our wines.

For its part, Cueva del Chamán Roble Monastrell Ecológico won a gold medal and a score of 93.7 points in the Young Reds category. This wine already won a silver medal and 92 points in the “Young Reds” category in last year’s edition.

Special mention for Diego López as “Outstanding Winemaker”.

In this edition of the España Selección competition, the work of Diego López, winemaker of Bodega Santa Cruz de Alpera, was also recognized. Our winemaker was awarded the “Enólogo Insigne” prize, which recognizes the work carried out by Diego López in making the wines that were awarded more than 95 points in the competition: Cueva del Chamán Verdejo, Gold Rupestre and Cueva del Chamán Garnacha Tintorera Mc.
